Today I worked on using Tableau. I took a data set from the USGS website and created a map below, I am working on transferring more data from one spreadsheet and adding it to this. This map currently shows different locations that rare earth elements can be found around the earth. I embedded it into the blog so you can interact with it. I dropped work on my info graphic but I'm still happy with how it looks. Tomorrow for the final day I will work on finalizing my work to an extent that I can present it.
I am glad you found Tableau interesting enough to explore it for your internship. It is great to see this minerals data on a map. I think it would be helpful if you explained why it was difficult to integrate the rare earth element names here in this map. Technically your blog post should say that you mapped the deposit type and not the rare earth elements. You should at least try to include the rare earth element data into the spreadsheet so that in the tooltip it at least says all the rare earth elements in that deposit type for each data point on the map.
